Community Service
STI College – General Santos believes in the importance of education as much as it believes in the importance of its role as in institution in carrying it out. Last August 19, STI College – General Santos, together with other members of TSPMI Group of Companies, conducted its annual Community Outreach Program at Dadiangas East Elementary School.
This year’s beneficiaries are 241 children from Palengke Day Center who are mostly victims of social disorganization in Sarangani Province and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. These children do labor and errand works such as car-watching and cellophane bag-vending, to augment the income of their families, and to live everyday. Nevertheless, these children still fall short of the required nutrition intake, which leads to poor school performance.
To support the needs of the children, Palengke Day Center run programs such as childhood care, and development activities for mental skills development. Physical development and value formation are also regularly observed, but only a small percentage of the beneficiaries are served, due to a limited budget.
STI College – General Santos, together with other members of TSPMI Group of Companies, delivered support through food, hygiene kits (toothpaste, toothbrush, and towels), and school kits (notebooks, activity books, papers, ball pens, pencils, crayons, bags, scissors, socks and slippers).
STI College – General Santos continues to promote social responsibility. It continues to aspire to give direction, and set an example of community welfare especially for children.
