Battle of Wits and Skills: Tagisan ng Talino Cluster 8 Competition

In the next course of Tagisan ng Talino, STIers from Cluster 8 went all-out as they showcased their wits and skills, vying for a spot in the national competition.

Last February 2, 67 delegates from STI Cotabato, STI Davao, STI General Santos, STI Koronadal, STI Tagum, STI Tacurong, STI San Francisco, and STI Zamboanga converged at STI College – General Santos, and battled in various competitions such as essay writing (Essay Does It!), flairtending (Mix ‘N Flair), extemporaneous speaking (Stand Up and Deliver), tourguiding (Travelogue), cake decorating (Worth the Whisk), table setting (All in Place), cooking (Chef Xpress), mobile app development (Codefest), and team quiz bowl (Think Quest).

STI College – General Santos lauds its delegates as they have claimed a good standing in most of the competitions, securing them a ticket to the road to the nationals.

James Louie Hallado won Champion in Essay Does It! competition as he coherently expressed his thoughts and ideas about the given topic.

Through her substantial and heartwarming way of making tourists feel most welcome, Jasel Mae Jaspe landed Champion for Travelogue.

Mary Feb Delena also won Champion in Worth the Whisk as she manifested a keen eye for design with her colorful and detailed skyscraper cake.

As they exemplified an accurate and well-thought table setting, Geraldine Lusuegro, and Christine Anne Alemania bagged the winning place in All In Place.

Aljie Haider Pulalon, Resty Jay Catipay, and Ian Tupas crafted palatable dishes made more enticing through their presentations in Chef Xpress, which led them to be hailed as the Champion.

Indeed more minds are better than one! Christian Kerven Salazar, Abigail Sanri Conlu, and Kristine Perez won 1st Runner Up in Think Quest as they have embodied a wide reader’s mind coupled with the most important thing – teamwork.

And as he has combined suave moves with a tasty cocktail drink, Alberto Pontino won 2nd Runner Up in Mix ‘N Flair.

The journey doesn’t end there! As the delegates are now embarking on another phase of the competition, they are currently on the process of rigorous preparations to gear them up for the upcoming nationals in Vigan.
